Lifes Better Together

July- August 2003
This was a large project funded by Thames Housing Association’s community project ‘Life’s Better Together’ and PAYP. We worked with local y/p and referrals from Wands worth YOT to produce a large mural on the side of a Mc Donald’s restaurant in Tooting Broadway. The work took several weeks to complete and was a hugely successful community project, which was opened by the Major of Wandsworth and enjoyed a lot of publicity.

Febuary - May 2006
'Street art programme' for Sutton JAS (Joint Adolescent Service)
A smal group of vunerable y/p with emotional and behavioural issues took part in these weekly sessions over a 12 -week period. The main theme for the programme was 'identity' and 'culture'. Through group discussions, workshops and practicals they explored these issues and created relative artwork.
The first project was for individuals to interpret their views, thoughts and fellings of themselves onto a round canvas- creating a self portrait of their face. This was done in an abstract/ symbolic way representing the positive aspects of their personalities.
In the second project the y/p created a piece of artwork for the bedrooms which again represented their personalites, skills and strengths. They did this by creating individual 'street art' based name boards.
Also all of their work was documented in individual portfolios, which along with the artwork was displayed for an open evening attended by the y/p, parents and carers and JAS staff.

Kimmeridge Cross Mural
|

|
|
May - June 2006
A very large mural was painted on the sid-e of the Co-Op, Kimmeridge Cross, Mottingham, funded by Bromley Mytime. This project involved the whole local community from the consultation, design to the practical. All areas of the community were represented from the Schools, Residents associations, Youth clubs, Church, Police etc.
Over a two week period local people helped us to create this huge mural which illustrates the local houses, shops, church and people.
All age groups took part from young children to some elderly residents. The project was a huge sucess, with the whole community feeling ownership of their creation.
